Rod Dedeaux Research and Baseball Foundation
Baseball has become a year-round sport. The advent of travel teams, fall ball, and the regular season has enabled America to enjoy its national pastime all year. Unfortunately the year-round ‘season’ has also brought with it an increase in the number of injuries related to the game. Over use combined with decreasing rest times have caused an alarming increase in the number of injuries in baseball athletes of all ages.
The Rod Dedeaux Research and Baseball Foundation is committed to research that will identify the causes of these injuries and define methods of significantly reducing them. Founded by USC Pitching Coach Tom House and building upon over 40 years of research, the RDRBF is the non-profit wing of the Institute and is entirely focused on researching ways of preventing these injuries that are keeping athletes from reaching their fullest potential.
Combining the intellectual property and the premium brand of the National Pitching Association with existing USC sports medicine, athletics, exercise physiology, and pharmaceutical departments will result in a one-of-a-kind facility on the USC campus that will reduce injury, promote athletic performance, and reinforce the commitment of the Dedeaux legacy in the game of baseball for years to come.
With your help the Foundation will be the "center of the baseball research universe" by performing the following research on baseball athletes of all playing positions:
- Athlete assessments
- Functional fitness
- Body mechanics
- Nutritional
- Mental/emotional
- Motion Analysis / Injury Precursor
- Pre-habilitation (pre-injury)
